Post 6: English Language Challenges

I can´t believe this is the last blog. I really enjoy this subject, it’s like my “you can relax” subject, the other subjects are very stressful. I join others classes wanting to leave but English classes are more interactive, we talk about interesting things. I like it because I can practice my speaking skills.

I have to improve my speaking skills, in my head everything sounds perfect but when I speak, I get nervous or something like that and I end up saying something complete different of what I was thinking, unfortunately no one close to me speaks English, so I try to talk in English when I´m alone to improve my fluency. For my listening skills I don’t think I have problems, but when people speak really fast or with accents, like Australians, it can get a little bit difficult. I watch a lot of British movies and series so my goal in English is speak English with British accent at perfection. I love British accent!

I use a lot my writing and reading skills on social media, but I still need to improve because sometimes I forgot how to write some words.

Anyway, I really like English and I try to use it as much as I can!

Post 5: Videogames

Well, this topic is really foreign to me. I know that most people born between 1990-2000 are really close to videogames but not me. Videogames never really caught my attention so a never asked for one and also my dad didn’t like them, he says that videogames only make children lazier. I think he’s got a point but, obviously, it depends on the case.

One time on vacations, the son of some niece of my grandparents stayed all day in his room playing videogames and when he lost, he totally loses his mind. He was a really frustrated and angry person, but it wasn´t the videogame´s fault, not all the people who plays videogames are aggressive and a video game doesn´t make you aggressive.

The closest that I’ve been to a videogame it´s “just dance”, my cousin has it and I think it´s funny. Last year I tried to play “Mario Kart” on a Nintendo and I crashed every time. When I was a child, I played a lot of cooking, dressing and haircut games, I used to have a lot of fun! but I´m not sure if they were really videogames because I associate videogames with PlayStation, Nintendo or Minecraft.

Post 4: Permaculture

 What is permaculture?

Honestly, I had no idea until I watch the video, or maybe I had an idea of what it was but I didn't know it was called permaculture. I think permaculture can be a really good method to help the environment. All around the world, people overexploit the soil, they don´t care about the damage that this can cause, they just care about production and money.

I think this topic is very interesting, specially because we can use organic matter to condition the soil, and what could be better than organic matter to our soil? Probably nothing. If we start promoting permaculture, we would help our environment a lot, and we could be pioneers for bigger farmers, because for what I understood it’s something that takes time to implement.

After I watch the video, I looked up more about this topic on the internet and Chile would be a pretty good place to implement it, but the problem, in my opinion, is that farmmers doesn´t have enough time to implement it, and ordinary people probably doesn´t have enough land, so I think permaculture is something that you have to implement with time and patience to make it work.

Post 3: Covid-19

COVID-19, what a horrible situation! I don’t know how I haven´t lost my mind yet, all this stuff going on it’s really hard to digest. On 2019 I took a sabbatical year because I had no idea about what to study and I was really excited about this year: start college, meet new people, new experiences and all of that it´s happening through a screen. I’m really pissed about it but I know it’s the best option because this is a really serious situation  guys. In my house everyone has chronical diseases so we are very careful with this situation. My sister is a nurse and she tested positive about 3 months ago but fortunately she and her family only experienced  symptoms flu. I miss going to the café and eat tons of churros with my grandmother or have lunch with my dad at our favourite restaurants, I think that´s the first thing I’ll do when this end, I really hope it ends. It´s funny that my brain thinks that on January 1st everything will end, like 2020 never happened. Would be great, wouldn´t?

Post 2: The best concert I've ever been to

In 2018, on May 25, I went to a Harry Styles concert here in Chile at the Movistar Arena. It has been one of the best concerts in my life. I’m a big fan of One Direction, the band where he used to be, I even went to the 1D concert in Chile on May 1st, 2013. The concert was beautiful, the fan club organised a rainbow tide and it worked perfect. My seat was very close to de stage so I was able to see him perfectly, took a lot of pictures and videos. I felt really lucky to be there because the atmosphere was one of kindness and love. I went alone, but I met a lot of girls there so I never really felt alone. Last November I got tickets to see him again the past October 14th but with this pandemic situation the tour got postpone. I only know that I will wait as long as it takes to see him again and hear his beautiful songs.

Post 1: A country I'd like to visit.

I think that everyone, at least once in a lifetime has asked themselves “which country I would like to visit?”. When I was a child, the perfect answer for that question was the USA, but then I grew up and realised that the USA is not the center of the universe, it´s really overrated. There’s a lot of beautiful countries and cultures besides the USA. Right now, at the age of 19 I realise that Italy is the perfect answer. The culture is so rich. The architecture, the art, the language, the people, THE FOOD. I swear that if I ever go to Italy, I would eat tons of pasta and pizza. I think it´s a beautiful country and I’d love to live there one day. I´d go to all the museums and take many photos of all the places.  People are very respectful to each other and it´s a very safety place for tourists and immigrants. Definitely I would love to go!
